Line Balance Checker
A popping boba line is quoted on its depositor. It is paid for on whichever stage runs slowest. Enter the depositing rate, the container you sell in and the packing rate, and this returns the throughput each stage can actually sustain, which one limits the line, and how much output queues behind it every hour.
This is arithmetic on rates you supply, not a prediction about your factory. The three inputs start at illustrative values; replace them with your own depositing rate, container weight and packer rate. It assumes both stages run continuously and it excludes changeover, cleaning, breakdowns and minor stops, so the figures are an upper bound on a balanced line rather than an expected output. Where your bottleneck actually sits can only be settled by a timed run across the whole line on your own product mix.
Compare the depositor against the packer
What each number means
| Figure | How it is worked out | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Packer capacity | Containers per minute times fill weight times 60 | The kilograms an hour the packing end can absorb |
| Limiting stage | The lower of the depositing rate and the packer capacity | This is the line’s real rate, whatever the depositor is rated at |
| Queued output | Depositing rate minus packer capacity, when positive | Beads produced each hour that the packer cannot take |
| Utilisation of the faster stage | Limiting rate divided by the faster stage’s rate | How much of the equipment you paid for is doing work |
| Containers an hour | Depositing rate divided by fill weight | The container demand the packer has to meet |
